Addicted to Adventure Racing

Checkpoint Tracker welcomes the newest addition to the AR family – Adventure Addicts Racing.

Founded by veteran racers Michelle Faucher (Calleva) and Andy Bacon (Odyssey-ImONPoint.org), their company is based in the Northern Virginia area and will produce events in the mid-atlantic region.

“Our mission is to create awesome events that push people’s mind and body a little farther than they thought possible, and share with them the positive effects of spending time outside, exploring new places, and pushing their limits. We are also committed to providing racers exceptional customer service before, during, and after an event.”Their first event is the Adrenaline Rush, and offers a sport (4-6 hours) and elite (12 hours) race.  The race will take place on March 17, 2012 near Front Royal, VA.

Adventure Addicts Racing is also excited to announce the return of the Buff Betty to the 2012 adventure racing calendar.  This race has had a great history throughout the country and will be making its return to Maryland in the fall of 2012. This race is for the women only…sorry guys!

Thunder Rolls Joins Meaty Heartland Division

The 10th annual Thunder Rolls expedition style, unsupported adventure race will involve paddling, trail running/trekking, mountain biking, navigation, coasteering, and rope work.

The 50/100 mile course will run through state forests & parks, historic sites and private lands.

Valuable prizes will be presented to the winners in the following divisions: 12 and 24 Hour, 2 and 3 person coed, and 2 and 3 person same gender. Certificates will be presented to the second and third place teams in each of these divisions also.

The 24 hour racers will start at midnight followed by the 12 hour racers at 6 am.

Thunder Rolls is a long running adventure racing summer tradition that’s been part of Checkpoint Tracker since it’s inception. This is one event you’ve got to experience. Add it to your schedule today…you can figure out who you’re racing with later ;-)

Checkpoint Tracker Sponsors Trailblazers Jack Rabbit Adventure Race

Checkpoint Tracker is pleased to announce it’s sponsorship of the Jack Rabbit Adventure Race which is set for March 17th in Hiawassee, GA.

The race is being produced by the Atlanta-based Trailblazers Adventure Racing Club (TBARC).

Solo racers and teams of 2 or 3 can choose between 5 and 12 hour courses. With these flexible team and course options the Jack Rabbit is a great choice for novice and experienced racers alike. Both course options are sanctioned by Checkpoint Tracker and are worth points in Checkpoint Tracker’s Southeast regional and national rankings.

All competitors will receive an embroidered Checkpoint Tracker Podium Hat and the fastest team in any division to clear each course (Sprint and Sport) will receive a prize package featuring gear from Checkpoint Tracker’s sponsors.

Also, Hiawasse resident Herman Guile will be at the race with Kibble…his WORLD RECORD HOLDING Giant Burmese Jack Rabbit!!!

Cradle of Liberty Joins Northeast Region

True to its name, the 2012 Cradle of Liberty will offer teams up to 24 hours of adventure, showcasing the historic heritage of southeastern Pennsylvania. The race provides seasoned teams and new competitors alike a chance to explore areas never before seen in a GOALS race; all within an hour’s drive of Philadelphia.

With a range of mandatory and optional points, this year’s trek heavy, semi-urban course promises great mountain biking, ample off-trail travel, and river paddling. The event will feature significant navigational opportunities for experienced racers, while serving as an ideal springboard to longer events for more novice teams. Team work and stamina will define the top finishers.

The precise location will be revealed in May.

Checkpoint Tracker is very excited to announce a multi-year partnership with Face Level Industries (FLI), the leading online resource on riverboarding and other “face first” sports.
